The reserved area of the Manu National Park is especially intended for tourism and research, so if we go into this place, we will have an authentic experience in the heart of the Peruvian jungle. This will give us the possibility to observe impressive wildlife such as jaguars, tapirs, turtles, otters, caimans, and others. Join and share this jungle experience near the city of Cusco.

Itinerary

DAY 1: NINAMARCA - CLOUD FOREST – RAINFOREST

We will pick you up from your hotel at 5:30 a.m. on our private transport. We will drive through mountains and valleys until we reach the funeral towers or Chullpas of Ninamarca (3750 m / 12.303 ft) and then visit the folkloric town of Paucartambo. After an hour of driving, we will get to Acjanco Pass (3495 m / 11.482 ft), which is the entry point to Manu National Park. We are going to walk through the cloud forest looking for different animals, such as Peru’s national bird (cock of the rock), quetzals, toucans, and monkeys.

Later in the afternoon, we will reach our lodge where we will spend the night.

DAY 2: ATALAYA – LIMONAL – CASA MATSIGUENKA 

We leave at 4:00 a.m. to take our boat and sail directly to the Reserved Zone of Manu Park. Along the river, It is possible to observe a bunch of wildlife such as skimmers, Orinoco geese, caimans, turtles, monkeys, and the Jaguar if we are lucky.

Before or after dinner, you can take an optional night walk through the forest in search of nocturnal creatures. Certainly, the nocturnal noise of the frogs and insects in the forest is an experience that will not be forgotten.

DAY 3: SALVADOR OXBOW LAKE – BRAZIL NUT - MACAW CLAY LICK

We will visit Salvador Oxbow Lake, we have access to a catamaran, so you can sit and observe the wildlife that we will find around, such as giant otters who spend most of their time fishing or playing at the edge of the lake, black caimans, monkeys, hoatzins, among others.

Later, we will learn about Brazilian nut trees and go to the Macaw Clay Lick, where we will appreciate the spectacle of different species of colorful macaws given to us: scarlet macaw, red and green macaw, some parakeets, and parrots. Then, we will explore trails to look for monkeys such as; emperor tamarin, red howler monkey, pygmy tamarin, etc. It will also have detailed information about the flora that we can find.

DAY 4: CASA MATSIGUENKA – OTORONGO OXBOW LAKE - DORADO LODGE

After our breakfast, we will go to Otorongo Oxbow Lake to look for more wildlife. On the way to the next lodge, we will have the chance to spot the Jaguar, which is one of the mammals that our passengers most want to see. At the same time, we look for turtles, alligators, capybaras, among others.

After sailing for around 4 hours we are going to get to our lodge where we will spend the night. We will also hike along the lodge’s trails.

DAY 5: DORADO LODGE – SHINTUYA HOT SPRINGS – BAMBU LODGE RAINFOREST

Once again, we explore the lodge’s trails and then you will have time to pack up and take our boat. We will go to the next lodge which is located in the rainforest. Before, we will make a stop at the Shintuya hot springs, where we will have some time relaxing and swimming. Later, we continue to the port of Atalaya, where our private transportation will be waiting for us.

We will spend our last night at Bambu Lodge Rainforest.

DAY 6: BAMBU LODGE – CLOUD FOREST – CUSCO

You will enjoy your breakfast watching the show that the hummingbirds offer us. Next, we will pack up and take our car passing through the cloud forest where we will have stops to observe some wildlife, use bathrooms, and relax the body.

Finally, we will expect to arrive around 16:00 hours.
