Manu National Park reserve is of vital importance since it protects a great diversity of flora and fauna and not only that, it also protects tribes that have not yet been contacted. On this long excursion through the Peruvian jungle, we will have the possibility to see most of what Manu National Park is home to. By entering the protected area of the Manu National Park, we support the safeguarding of the Amazon since this allows us to have better surveillance posts and thus protect our natural heritage.

Itinerary

DAY 1: NINAMARCA - CLOUD FOREST – RAINFOREST

We will pick you up from your hotel at 5:30 a.m. on our private transport. We will drive through mountains and valleys until we reach the funeral towers or Chullpas of Ninamarca (3750 m / 12.303 ft) and then visit the folkloric town of Paucartambo. After an hour of driving, we will get to Acjanco Pass (3495 m / 11.482 ft), which is the entry point to Manu National Park. We are going to walk through the cloud forest looking for different animals, such as Peru’s national bird (cock of the rock), quetzals, toucans, and monkeys.

Later in the afternoon, we will reach our lodge where we will spend the night.

DAY 2: PILLCOPATA – SHINTUYA HOT SPRINGS – SHIPITIARY NAVITY COMMUNITY

After our breakfast, we continue by van to Atalaya port, on the way we will stop to visit Coca Plantations and stop for a nice view to see the Lowland Rainforest. Then, we will navigate through the crystalline river of Mother of God. We will ramble through the primary forest searching for some families of capybaras, birds, monkeys, reptiles, and mammals as well. Afterward, we have a short stop to enjoy the Natural Medicine Hot Spring.

Afternoon, we arrive at Shipitiari Tribe. After resting, we will explore the Tapirs Clay Lick- there you will wait in front of it salt-lick-muddy pool to spot Tapir eating salt minerals. Once we spot some, we’ll way back to our Lodge.

DAY 3: DIAMANTE NATIVE COMMUNITY – BOCA MANU – HUMMINGBIRD LODGE

Today, we are into the deep Amazon Lowland to explore the primary forest, researching macaws, toucans, snakes, and maybe a Jaguar (Panthera Onca) resting on a log. After lunch, we will go looking at some exotic birds as toucans, trumpeters, and families of monkeys (Red Howler Monkey, Brown Capuchin, white-fronted capuchin).

We continued by boat through the Madre Dios River, visiting native families to interact with them, they speak Yine and Pirus dialect, learning about their customs and their daily life, so then we’ll go for a night walk around the lodge.

DAY 4: BOCA MANU – OTORONGO OXBOW LAKE – CASA MATCHIGUENKA

We will continue navigating throug the Manu River with a brief stop at Limonal station to have an explanation about Manu National Park. Going further, on the river edges you will observe groups of turtles, alligators, capibaras, and maybe a Jaguar (Panthera Onca) resting on a log and observing its territory.

When the afternoon arrives, we will explore the largest Otorongo Oxbow Lake from a tower lookink for Giant Otters, Caimans, and the Jaguar.

DAY 5: SALVADOR OXBOW LAKE – MACAW CLAY LICK – JUNGLE EXPLORATION

Early, we will visit Salvador Oxbow Lake we have access to a catamaran, so you can sit and observe the wildlife that we will find around, such as giant otters who spend most of their time fishing or playing at the edge of the lake, black caimans, monkeys, hoatzins, among others. Then, we visit the Macaw Clay Lick to spot differtent spicies of Macaws, such as scarlet macaws, blue and yellow macaws, etc.

Afternoon, we will explore the wild forest trails, you wil’ll also search for more species of monkeys such as white-fronted capuchin, pygmy marmoset. macaws, snakes, and giant Ceiba tree (Mother of the Jungle).

We return to our lodge and interact with native people who are living there.

DAY 6: CASA MATSIGUENKA – BRASCO OXBOW LAKE – HUMMINGBIRD LODGE

After our breakfast, we have to begin our return to Boca Manu, This will be another opportunity to catch a glimpse of the magnificent of great wildlife along the Manu River, the group might see, capybaras, tapir, and the famous jaguar. we will visit the Brasco Oxbow Lake to watch Giant Otters, monkeys, and sloth.

In the afternoon, the group arrived at our lodge where we spent the night.

DAY 7: HUMMINGBIRD LODGE – MOTHER OF GOD RIVER – INDIANA TOP LODGE

Today, we are going to continue our trip up the Mother of God River in our boat having great views of the Andes, and on the way back, we will have time to relax and swim in the Amazon with more opportunities to watch some more animals and discover the wildlife and having impressing views of the exuberant rainforest.

After our amazonian typical lunch, we are going to continue for 2 hour and a half by boat upstream until our lodge.

DAY 8: INDIANA TOP LODGE – CLOUD FOREST – CUSCO

After enjoying our breakfast, we get ready to pack and leave our lodge to Atalaya Port by boat. So, at Atalaya, we are going to take our car passing through the cloud forest where we will have stops to use bathrooms and relax the body.

Finally, we will expect to arrive at Cusco around 16:00 hours.
