Description

In the Amazon department of Madre de Dios, the Tambopata National Reserve displays its wealth in the form of colors, sounds, heat and life. Mammals, birds, reptiles and butterflies are shown without reservation; thousands of kinds of trees and flowers greet us as we pass; and aquatic creatures in their natural habitat play with our curiosity, sometimes posing for the camera. Tambopata is perfect for discovering the jungle. And fall in love with her forever.

Itinerary

DAY 1: TAMBOPATA RIVER – TROPICAL FOREST – NOCTURNAL EXCURSION

Upon arrival at the airport or bus station, we’ll go to the office for check-in. After an hour of driving, we board a boat for 10 minutes upstream journey on the Tambopata River to our lodge.

Post a tasty lunch, we plunge into the tropical forest, discovering medicinal plants, and ancient trees, some over 600 years old. Then, we’ll walk up a tower (45 meters) to spot monkeys, toucans, etc.

At night, our boat sets off letting you observe the nocturnal creatures lining the banks of the Tambopata River.

DAY 2: TAMBOPATA RIVER – MACAWS AND PARROTS CLAY LICK – PUERTO MALDONADO

Early, we sail towards the macaws and parrot’s clay lick. Once at the Chuncho clay lick, a vibrant display unfolds. For over three hours, birds’ dazzling colors and chirrups captivate us. Simultaneously, we savor our delicious breakfast. Then, we cruise the Tambopata River, hunting for sights of capybaras, tapirs, wild pigs, monkeys, caimans, turtles, or cats.

By afternoon, we retrace our steps, heading back to the city along the same route we took on the first day.
